If you could sense my excitement, happiness and contentment in a post, I hope it’s this one. Listen, it’s not new info that Starbucks launched in Cape Town toward the end of last year but let me just tell you that I cried a bit on the inside because the last time I experienced Starbucks was in Dubai. In Dubai! That was a few years ago and sadly I haven’t gotten the chance to try it again since then.
So you might be wondering why the heck I’ve only popped in at Starbucks now? Truth be told, whenever I made it my mission to go – the queues were always super long and I just had to keep giving myself little ‘pep talks’ and reminding myself that when I do manage to experience Starbucks in Cape Town, it’s going to be one spectacular encounter and boy oh boy was it a spectacular encounter. I don’t care what anyone says but Starbucks really is the b*tch she thinks she is.
So the fab people over at Starbucks invited me over to try out a few of their drinks and of course I jumped at the opportunity. My sister and I popped into the Cavendish store and let me just add that we were spoilt for choice! We didn’t know what we wanted to try because there were so many yummy sounding things on the menu! I loved the friendly staff and the overall vibe of the store. I wish I had snapped a pic or two but you have to take my word for it when I say that the store is a must visit! With that being said, today I want to share my current fave summer drinks at Starbucks.
Okay, so we all need a caffeine fix, even in summer. If you need a little booster but don’t want to feel like you’ve been hit with a wave of internal summer while sipping on the deliciousness that is a Starbucks Cappuccino, then this is the drink for you… and me. The Iced Cappuccino is made up of Starbucks’s signature espresso blend with a layer of frothed cold foam and just a splash of milk. If you’re an avid coffee drinker then I think you would enjoy this drink as well. I opted to add just one sachet of sugar because a girl needs a little bit of sweetness in her life, you know? 😋
Berry Hibiscus When you go to Starbucks you don’t picture yourself having a drink like this but truth be told? this is my fave one yet! The Berry Hibiscus is such a great option when you need something fresh to cool you down. Starbucks’s Berry Hibiscus is made with green coffee extract, hibiscus, sweet ginger and lemongrass, it really does make for a great thirst quencher. Depending on my ‘mood’, I could have this with or without sugar but I really love the tanginess of the berries and the fact that the drink doesn’t taste as sweet as it looks, on the contrary, it is quite fresh. This is a tea based drink but with a caffeine kick from the green coffee extract.
Java Chip Frappuccino Oh what an indulgent treat! The java chip Frappuccino is like a three way threat to me. It gives you the best of coffee, chocolate and a sweet treat. Even though there are some dairy replacement options at Starbucks, my lactose intolerant self enjoyed the heck out of this one. I chose to have coffee in mine and if I had to describe the taste, I would say that it tastes like a chocolate iced coffee. Pure heaven I tell you! 😍
While we’re on the topic of all things yummy at Starbucks; they currently have a rewards system that adds up to free food and drinks! Who doesn’t love free goodies, right?! When you download the app you get 125 stars when you join and that is halfway to a star reward⭐️. With every R2 spent, you get one star⭐️ and you even get a birthday reward. I have gotten quite a few awesome deals since I downloaded the app and I can’t wait to start exploring the warm beverages once the colder months start rolling in!
Cape Town readers, have you been to Starbucks yet?
