2020 is the year that I have had the most struggles with my skin. It’s the year that I have really learned what works for my skin and what doesn’t. If you scroll through my older posts for the year then you would realise that my most reviewed products for 2020 is skincare. My primary skincare concerns are enlarged pores, blackheads, texture and the seasonal flareups. So a few weeks ago the darlings over at SVR Laboratoire Dermatologuqie offered to send me one of their newest additions to their skincare line and of course I was eager to try it because the product claimed to target all of my above skincare concerns. Now the SVR brand is not a brand that I have ever used before, so I did a bit of online searching and found out that this French skincare brand has been around since 1962. That is as old as my mom! If they’ve been around that long, they must be doing something right.
The SVR brand is most definitely a luxury skincare brand and I love dabbling into the world of luxury skincare every now again. So this product is aimed at targeting the accumulation of dead cells and signs of ageing such as uneven skin tone, imperfections, enlarged pores and wrinkles. Your girl is reaching her 30’s in a few years and if a product claims to target my exact skincare concerns then I am super keen! I was most excited about the retinol in the product because retinol in skincare reduces fine lines and wrinkles by increasing the production of collagen. It also stimulates the production of new blood vessels in the skin, which improves skin colour. Additional benefits in retinol also includes fading age spots and softening rough patches of skin. I massage the product into my freshly cleansed face when damp and then leave it to absorb and soak into my face for 10 minutes. The microbeads in this exfoliator does a really great job at cleaning out your pores without it stripping the skin and making it feel dry. When I rinse the mask from my face, my skin feels supple and soft! I love that about this mask.
This is the first time that I have used an exfoliating mask on my face and I low-key think that I am obsessed. The product turns into this serum like consistency when you rinse it from your face. When I have my seasonal flareups, I cannot use any type of exfoliating products but I used this mask and it was gentle and soothing enough on my face to the point where I use it everytime I have flareups in order to remove the deadskin and flaking. The scent of this exfoliating mask is quite refreshing but subtle and not overpowering at all. When I get rid of all the dead skin and my face is even toned out, it makes my makeup sit more evenly on my skin. I can’t wait to start seeing long term results with this product, but for now – I love what this mask is doing to my skin. The SVR Microgommage Lift mask currently retails for R475. It is a luxury skincare product but it is worth every cent! A few added benefits of this product is that it has 3 anti-ageing actions – 0.1% pure retinol / vitamin A, 2.5% quartz and volcanic sand to exfoliate dead cells from the surface and 5% musk rose oil which rinses off as a serum to leave skin soothed and nourished.
