Long time no Fashion Friday?! While the colder weather is slowly creeping up on us here in South Africa, it is a definite that fashion folks alike are starting to pack away those summer frocks and turning to social media to see what pieces are trending this winter and ticking off some of the season’s hottest trends. I haven’t been in a store in months, can you believe it? MONTHS! The inspiration for today’s post comes merely from what I have seen on my socials and online fashion mags.

The trend that I will be focusing on today is the Cargo Pants. Maaaaan! This was the pants of the 90’s and I remember wanting (and having) this pants way back when, so seeing this trend making an appearance since last year really tugged at my nostalgic heart strings. What I love about trends that are making a comeback in this time is how versatile it becomes. Making it easier to adapt to one’s wardrobe and also making it more appealing to the masses. It was predicted in 2018 that the cargo pants would make a strong comeback and people would be embracing it. We got the first glimpse of the cargo pants when we saw Gigi Hadid rocking it on the Fendi runway in Milan for Spring19. That is how adaptable the trend is. You don’t necessarily have to wear the cargo pants in colder weather, there are many different fabrications that make the cargo pants a multi-seasonal piece. If you are all about recycling your clothing through seasons, layering is also a great way to take your cargo pants from summer to winter. Switch out those heels or flats for a cozy pair of booties or even sneakers.

If I think back to what Cargo pants used to look like back then, I would associate it with the above pair from Topshop. Extremely bulky and oversized. That might be the look that some might go for but others might prefer a more fitted style and go for the pair from Superbalist and Foschini. Gone are the days where Cargo Pants only came in camo shades, it transformed along with the creativity that fashion allows us to break out of the proverbial box., even though the below celebs still prefer the more neutral shades.Today I decided to give you a double dose of celeb inspiration to show you just how versatile this trend is and how you can wear it all year around. I am in love with Kendall’s look as I find it super relaxed and laid back.
