Here’s to the first Fashion Friday post for the year and the first Fashion Friday post that I have done on the blog in months! I missed doing these posts, especially when I see trends in stores and splashed all over my fave glossy mags. I have been MIA on sm for the past few months so it’s not really a trend that I’ve seen Instagram peeps rock but I do remember seeing girls in Istanbul wear it and I ended up buying a few for friends. If you haven’t guessed it already, I’m talking about the statement hair clip!

When I see these clips, it reminds me of my childhood back in the 90’s. I remember being a kid back then, the bigger and more bedazzled the hair clip – the better. They have evolved quite a bit since the last time I slid one or a few through my locks. There is definitely one for every occasion. I have selected my favourite from a few stores that I feel would tickle my reader’s fashion bone and also would suit everyone’s budget. It seems like the pearl ones and the statement word hair clips are the front runners. It seems like these hair clips are here to stay and will be at the top of fashion folk alike’s hottest summer must have list. Beside the fact that they are super chic and trendy right now, they are also quite practical. The perfect little addition to your hairstyle to pin your hair out of your face while adding a little bit of sparkle to your outfit.

This trend might not be for everyone but I must admit, it is quite fun and eye catching. I have to say that they are bit on the pricier side but TG for Mr Price hooking a girl up! Some stores sells them in sets and that definitely makes it easier on the pocket. If I can give any word of advice, I would say that you should find the perfect one for your hair type to prevent you from looking like a kid in the 90’s… unless that is the look that you are going for. If you have more voluminous hair, I would suggest a bigger clip that will stand out and not get lost in the volume. If you have finer hair, opt for the multi-pack pins and stack them. If you’re still testing the waters with this trend then just opt for a minimal approach like the set from Truworths.Now of course I have to give  you some celeb inspiration to help you out if you are uncertain on how to rock this trend. If there is one celebrity that is head over heels in love with this trend then it is Hailey Bieber. She rocks it with so many different hairstyles and I have to give the girl credit – she gets it right everytime!
