We are nearing the end of the year and I can’t even believe that I haven’t taken my annual staycation yet. My annual staycation has become such a tradition and I look forward to it every year. I have had a busy, rough and draining past few months and I really needed a little break from reality. I usually have my staycation between July/September but for some reason each place that I looked at… FOR MONTHS, was fully booked and we really wanted to do something for my sister’s birthday weekend. Luckily we found a slot available at Sunstays. Now if you’re a regular then you would probably know that I have stayed at Sunstays Lagoon Beach Apartments before and that is the perfect type of accommodation for a small family. So my sister invited me along to celebrate her birthday and decided to book our stay with Airbnb.
By now everybody probably knows what Airbnb is. For those that don’t… I will give you a quick run down. Airbnb is basically a website where you can rent out or book accommodation locally and abroad. People from all over the world rent out their homes, apartments, guest house, lodges and even hotel rooms. They add pictures and amenities to their listing so that possible clients can see what their place has to offer. This time we were on the second floor, if I am being completely honest – I don’t like the second floor as I much rather prefer having access to the beach and just being able to walk right out of the ‘back door’. Even though the ground floor is my number choice, I did pretty much have a stunning view of the lagoon and the beach. I slept with the window open and it is my absolute favourite thing going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the waves crashing.
I have to say, even though I prefer my previous stay at Sunstays way more than I did this time, (you can read that post over here), the crisp white linen on the super comfy beds were definitely my favourite part. We had a two bedroom apartment with two double beds, two bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchenette, a dining area, a lounge and a balcony. I enjoyed my stay at Sunstays but this particular apartment/listing definitely missed the little personal touches in the apartment that I have become accustomed to when staying over at Sunstays.
In true Cape Town fashion, the weather has been up and down these past few days. For the entire weekend I have been enjoying staying in doors so I didn’t do much any exploring May favourite thing was to sit on the bed and stare out the window, sit on the balcony, spend time with my family and watch some movies.
Being on the second floor had its perks though. One of them being that it is quite peaceful and quiet. If you are renting a double apartment like we did, the second bedroom that is situated right next to the hallway can get noisy because of people passing through. If you are situated on the second floor, you don’t get to experience that and are rest assured a comfortable night’s sleep.
If you are new to Airbnb and you want to sign up, you can use my code –www.airbnb.com/c/tasneemt56 to sign up. You will get a R600 off your first stay when you book anywhere in the world, your city, your country… wherever you’re looking to book accommodation. This may not have been my best experience but I won’t let one average listing stop me from finding my ideal staycation location. I am already looking for a new staycation spot for month end.
