Eid Mubarak to all of my Muslim readers that are celebrating Eid ul-Adha today. May the نور noor on this Eid illuminate your heart, mind and soul and may all your prayers be answered. I am celebrating Eid tomorrow and if you’re anything like me and the rest of Cape Town’s muslim girls (judging by how packed the malls are), that leaves outfits to the last minute then you might need my help just a little bit.
Somehow time just ran away from me Eid ul-Adha 2018. I usually have everything planned out but the today before Eid I still have no idea what I am going to cook, wear and do this Eid. It is almost like tradition for me and I bet many other girls, to hop from store to store looking for the “perfect” Eid outfit. I cannot even express how time consuming, frustrating and tiring it is. I have adopted this new policy where I shop my entire outfit from one store or I design and sew my entire outfit and wear shoes/accessories that I already own. Today I thought that I would select three stores and curate three outfits (if you’re doing some last minute shopping) so that you can shop your ideal Eid outfit. Today I am not featuring any online store because duh so that you can pop into any of these stores and grab these items or similar in order to save you time and some painful feet.
The Woolworths EditThis year I am going with a similar outfit idea. I am kind of in this wide leg pants phase. I am usually a “dress person” on Eid but if Cape Town temperatures are anything to go by at the moment, that is highly impossible. I love how effortlessly chic this ensemble is and how minimal items can make an entire outfit come together. To top off the look, a bold statement lip is the perfect addition to the outfit.
The Forever New EditThe modern day power suit is making such a strong impact in the fashion world at the moment and I just had to add this pink floral suit from Forever New to the round up. Wearing the same colour from head to toe is another streetstyle aspect that many fashion influencers are embracing, so I thought why not include it in this outfit selection. Seeing that the floral suit is such a bold print, I wanted to keep the rest of the items minimalistic. You can always separate the pieces and pair it with items that you already own.
The Truworths EditI usually feel like going with a dress makes things so much easier. When you decide on a dress then you are completely “dressed”. With a dress like this I will most probably wear leggings underneath because no one wants to suffer for beauty or in the name of fashion… at least I don’t. I chose this bold floral print to get us in the mood for spring approaching in just a few days and also a print that will be universally flattering on all skin tones/body types.
I hope my little outfit selections will eliminate the panic and manic state over the next few hours if you find yourself in the mall looking for a last minute outfit idea. All of these ensembles are however adjustable and not only dedicated to the modest muslim girl. If you are celebrating Eid tomorrow, I would like to wish you an Eid Mubarak.
