Okay now let me start off by saying that I am an avid sunglasses wearer, hoarder, collector, buyer and whatever other term you can use to describe an individual that loves sunglasses. I am always browsing the sunglasses stand at the mall or even online when I feel like doing a little online shopping. Since the end of last year toward the beginning of this year, I have been noticing these small framed sunglasses. I mostly saw them on celebs like the Hadid sisters and the Kardashians/Jenners and then started seeing them spill onto other celebs.
My people… I am talking about the tiny sunglasses or small frames, if you will. This is probably the first trend that I have covered in my Fashion Friday series for the past 7 years that I have done on this blog, that I am 100% positive sure that I will not be embracing. Now don’t get me wrong. I love this trend (I wouldn’t be covering it on the blog if I didn’t) on other people but definitely not on myself. Everyone has their own style and preference but this is a trend that I don’t see myself embracing.
Let us rewind just a little bit. The tiny sunglasses trend hails from the 90’s and I recall seeing so many people rocking it back then, until Kanye decided to give Kim some fashion advice via email saying… and I quote – “You cannot wear big glasses anymore. It’s all about tiny little glasses” and here we are, a few months later telling the tale on City Girl Vibe. If I remember correctly, the West’s are just a few months behind as I saw the Jenners wear them first. #JustSayingIf you’re interested in this trend and are loving it, I made things easier for you and found a wide range of styles and prices just for you. Of course as with any fashion trend, the tiny glasses is not going to be everyone’s cuppa tea. It seems the interwebs are divided on this trend. There are lots of memes swirling around and some even comparing it to the sunnies Keanu Reeves wore in The Matrix.
As I mentioned, the Hadids seem to love this trend even more than the Kardashian/Jenners. Gigi Hadid collabed with Vogue and created her own line of sunnies and there’s quite a few pairs of tiny framed sunglasses in there. Lucky for us you darlings that are interested in this trend. it is available both in stores and online. Okay now for the people that are not feeling this trend, you gotta hang in there just a little while longer as winter still has a long way to go and people will only really start embracing this trend in summer. I did a little bit of an observation, it seems like the trends that I blogged about over the past two weeks can actually create quite the look if compared with the tiny sunglasses.
Picture this, a beret, a waist bag and a pair of tiny sunglasses. Or am I reaching? You decided! Happy Friday lovers. Yay or Nay for the tiny glasses trend?
Love all of these! Sunnies are the perfect way to make a fashion statement!
I love them so much I bought pink ones 😉
