Today on the blog I thought I would do something a little different and introduce a new series on the blog where I will be doing short reviews on sample size products that I receive. Usually with press drops brands will send me a few sample size products in the box of goodies as well or in goodie bags at events which is quite nice and allows you to use a product without committing to a full product. So every now and again I will feature a sample size product to let you know if the product is worth spending on.First up I have a sample size product of the Marula hair oil that I have been using for months … yes months! I received this product in a goodie bag at an expo that I got invited to some time last year and it really can rival “that other” popular brand that people loves raving about. As you can tell this is a sample size product but you really only require the smallest amount of product so I can just imagine how long a full sized bottle of this would last you. In my Paul Mitchell booklet I also read that this oil can be used all over the body and I have used it on my cuticles before and to tame my unruly eyebrows, it works like a bomb!
I’ve used this oil in so many different ways and I always receive great results. My preferred method would be one droplet into the palm of my hand then spreading it onto my hands and working it through my damp hair before blow-drying it. I then flat iron my hair and again use the smallest amount and run my fingers through my hair just to conceal those fly-aways and split ends. Another thing that I love about this oil is the scent, it has a floral scent which lingers in your hair all day and leaves it feeling super soft and shiny. This oil is so great for taming frizz if you’re someone that suffers from frizz after flat ironing your hair. If there’s one guideline that I could give you the it would be to use the least amount because you can easily use too much product and your hair ends up in a greasy mess. Usually with hair oils, my hair feels heavy and weighed down but this oil feels quite lightweight on my hair.
Last year I decided it was time for change and went blonde… well half blonde and we all know what blonde does to one’s hair especially if you’re not a natural blonde. If I’m being completely honest it was hard to maintain and my Marula Oil was a lifesaver and helped me maintain my blonde by moisturising the ends and leaving it silky soft. Would I recommend buying the full size product? Absolutely!
That’s a wrap for my short review. I’ll be back soon with another sample stash post. Have you tried any products from Paul Mitchell before? I’m dying to try more products in the range.
