Adventures of a city girl

NYE in the City … or on the Water

Usually when it comes to NYE celebrations, I plan way before the time only for it fail. This year last year everything was planned so hush hush and it ended up being the best NYE I’ve EVER had. Thanks to the peeps over @VandAWaterfront we got to ring in the new year in Style.

We headed to the Waterfront at 5.30 because every New Year’s Eve the V & A seems to be packed to the brim. At the time the Waterfront was already packed with more people arriving by the minute. At 18.45 we sailed off into the sunset on the Ameera Catamaran and it was by far one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. Sailing from the V&A to Bantry Bay made me a little sea sick but I wouldn’t change it for the world. The friendly staff aboard kept the drinks and food flowing and their overall friendliness and services were great. I especially loved how they made provision for those that weren’t drinking on the night.

For the entire night we had the best seats at the concert and listening to the sounds of Freshlyground, Goodluck Live and Prime Circle to name a few. It was also my first time seeing these amazing bands live. No doubt the V&A knows to throw a concert and ring in the new year with a bang.

NYE is all about the fireworks, no? and the great display of fireworks on the evening was definitely the cherry on the top. The first being at 9pm and the second round at midnight. It was just too awesome to capture in a picture so I decided to make a video that Ill upload onto Youtube later this week.

Whoever said that making new friends in Cape Town was difficult clearly haven’t spent New Year’s Eve in the city. I can’t remember when’s the last time I spoke to so many strangers … Nice strangers, in one day.

The moral of this whole blogpost? Don’t go spending a fortune on New Years Eve parties. The concerts at V&A are free every year! You may not celebrate it on a catamaran but the viewing points around the V&A are spectacular and you’ll save a ton of money seeing bands and artists live compared to listening to their music on a radio or whatever.

P.s thanks to the newly weds @Princess_Tricks for letting me tag along. You are the best!
