Living the good life at Strand Tower Hotel

This past weekend I was invited to stay over at Strand Tower Hotel, situated in the heart of Cape Town’s city centre where I was able to enjoy the spectacular view overlooking the city and picturesque Table Mountain.

Setting foot into the hotel’s lobby, I immediately felt welcome. Greeted with warm hellos and smiles really made me feel at home. You know that moment where you stand in the middle of a stunning setting turning in a circle while taking in your surroundings before proceeding to what you’re supposed to do? Well that happened to me when I walked in. The first thing I noticed was…

I’ve always liked these chairs but this one seemed way more prettier than the ones I’ve spotted and now I’m convinced I want one.

I was shown to the executive lounge where I was offered drinks and the staff really went out their way to make my mom and I feel extra welcome. After being briefed on all my “perks” of my stay, I was shown to my Deluxe room which was situated on the 16th floor. My room was beyond AMAZING! Bathrobes spread out on the king size bed, double windows, free wireless and dstv was just a drop in the ocean which made my stay even more pleasurable

What I loved most about staying over at Strand Tower Hotel and Conference Centre is that its so close to everything. Within walking distance from a lot of well-known Cape Town hotspots and so close to the V&A Waterfront. After settling into our room I went shopping at the V&A and when I returned I got offered to have my bags carried to my room. {Treated like royalty hey?!}

During my stay I felt like time was going way too fast especially when I really started enjoying myself. I went into the bathroom and I couldn’t decide whether to bath or shower so I went with the “greener” option and jumped in the shower{The Leisure Hotels group are firm believers in green living so I thought that would be the sensible option«– they score brownie points for that!}. While in the shower I was quite spoilt for choice having body washes, shampoo + conditioner and even body lotion for after my shower.

Well seeing that its winter here, it starts getting dark pretty early. Stepping out the shower, the first thing I spotted peeping through my room window was definitely the City Lights. I stood there for almost an hour, captivated by OUR city’s beauty(Cheesy but true)

I hopped into our soft, HUGE bed and after fidgeting with my ipad for a while I started reading my “LA Candy – Lauren Conrad” book that I had bought that day. Listening to the streets buzzing even though it was way after 1.

Checkout was at 11 and I honestly stayed there till the last minute because I didn’t want to leave. Back in the lobby Alfred (The Doorman) chatted to us a little while «– Super friendly and funny dude. So to ANY ANY ANYBODY visiting Cape Town or even lives here, if ever you need affordable yet top class accommodation or even just a mini getaway, Strand Tower Hotel and Conference is highly recommended. I WILL BE BACK!

Tribute To Table Mountain.

As you know, I really love my CITY… One of my main inspirations behind my blog. In-between all my fashion posts,beauty reviews and random ramblings, I still get to play a tourist in my own city and the best part is that there’s always places I’ve never been to or would love to see.

One of the things that makes Cape Town besides its gorgeous beaches, Friendly faces and places, vibey night clubs and picturesque settings, is Table Mountain. No matter what time of the year… Table Mountain always looks gorgeous, even when covered with clouds.

•A wonder of nature, that’s what you are,
chosen as the best amongst landmarks from countries afar.

•Our flat topped mountain covered in beauty from its top to its feet,
stands majestically where the two oceans meet.

•Sometimes its top is covered in clouds,
but its beauty is still sprawling and enthralling the crowds.

•Situated in Cape Town, a city in our beautiful land,
stands Table Mountain, a natural wonder so grand.

•So hop off at the City Sightseeing 13th stop,
and take a cable car ride up to the Table top. ☀_/\/¯¯¯¯¯\/¯\_

Completing My Own Sentences

So I’m going to have a Q+A with myself and answer my own questions. I loved this idea after seeing it on one of my fav blogger’s blog but decided to change it to what I thought would relate to me more.
Here goes…

•The last thing I bought … My red Rimmel London bag that I got some free cosmetics in and that I absolutely love. [With my Bday $$$ from mommy]

•Today I realized … That Table Mountain + Cape Town is a pretty spectacular place.

•At the moment … I’m focusing on myself and not so much on the smaller negative things that takes up all my energy and happiness.

•I am… Pretty much stronger than what I give myself credit for.

•Tomorrow… I’m going to make at least one person smile.

• I want… My own walk in closet.

•I noticed… I’m pretty stubborn and I hate it when people tells me how to do things.

•You know you’re past a stage… When you no longer fear something or someone not being in your life anymore.

•Its not always a bad thing… To cry.

•The best feeling in the world… Is to prove all those people wrong that judged you and said you could never do it.

•I hate… Depending on people and frienemies (Friends+Enemies) that pretends to be my friend when they actually find pleasure in my mishaps.

•I should really… Read more books than blogs, but I’m pretty motivated after I saw something that I would love in my own home someday.

•One day… I would really love to be in the fashion industry but not a designer and travel the world.

•I find it… Hard to trust people but I eventually do when I get to know them

•I now know… That everyone is human and even the happiest of people experienced some pain and failure at some point in their life.

•Last week… I reconnected with so many people that I’ve lost contact with over the last few years.

City Of Inspiration

As you know I’m pretty much obsessed with my City… Well who wouldn’t be? I do after all live in the World Design Capital and one of the world’s natural seven wonders is right here in the mother city… And that beauty is called Table Mountain!

This past weekend the world celebrated St Patrick’s Day and Cape Town celebrated along with everyone else. On the 16 of March, Table Mountain reflected a really captivating green colour, honouring St Patrick’s Day. It was totally AH-Mazing! Our wonderful mountain looked absolutely breathtaking along with the city lights. I always say that Cape Town’s city lights represents the dreams of many Capetonians and on March the 16th our city’s mountain indeed looked like a dream!

Well, trust me to make each and every occasion about fashion, seeing that we celebrating St Patrick’s Day, I thought why not show you how connected everything really is. In the Mood of St Patrick’s Day, I came up with a “Green” outfit for the ladies that celebrated with a night out on the town.

To me, you can never wear too much green, so in the outfit that I put together, there’s green popping out everywhere!
•This cute little Mr Price Number is gorgeous!
•Those stunning wooden heeled Peep toe heels are from Luella.
•The green hugger handbag is from Square moon bags.
•And lastly, no outfit is complete without some Sass Diva Jewellery!

Seeing that you’re on a girls night out, you have to eat right? Right! Well something light would do. This is how I’m sticking to the green theme by putting together the ultimate girly foodie to nom nom on, from a main dish to decadent choccies.
•Sushi at Baluga, Cape Town’s Fav hotspot where you find sushi like no other.
•Appletiser to quench your thirst -» Appletiser needs no explanation,
•After every good meal, you need some dessert. Why not some choc chip ice-cream!
•Then lastly some Aero choccie to end the night off.

So driving around the city and experiencing its spectacular views, you going to need your own ride! I think the ideal car for a girl and her BFFs would have to be a Mini Cooper [I♥MiniCooper].

There is no doubt that Cape Town is definitely a city of inspiration! Without even noticing, everything in the city are always connected! THE CITY LINKS US! Here’s to celebrating St Patrick’s Day in style.

A tourist in your own city

The holidays are fast approaching and all those looking to leave the city on vacation, why not tuck away your traveling itch and become a tourist in your own city, by discovering the ‘Wonder’full adventures that Cape Town has to offer.

Living in the city, people tend to get caught up in their daily routine, where they forget to experience the finer things that our magnificent city has to offer. There are lots to see and do in Cape Town, even if your aim is to merely relax and spend time away from the busy everyday hustle and bustle, there are many relaxing attractions that are definitely well worth the visit, whatever your taste, preference or budget.     

There are loads of adventure activities ranging from abseiling down table mountain to an adrenaline packed day at Ratanga junction, Africa’s wildest theme park, you can also choose between shark cage diving and wing surfing.

                                                                                                                                                                      

If you are more into cultural experiences than the wild outdoor adventure life there are still lots to choose from. You can go wine tasting and visit museums and even take an informative and fun tour around the city on the CitySightseeing bus.

If this all sounds too hectic for you, Cape Town is also a place where you can just relax and recharge your batteries. Be sure to leave some time for a relaxed scenic drive around the peninsula – you’ll see beautiful scenery from oceans to mountains and vineyards and can stop off at various viewpoints to enjoy a picnic or simply to take it all in.

One should also have fun at night, so go out for a night on the town and experience our widely spread night life which stretches over a variety of pubs, clubs, movies and theatre options to choose from, so you will never have an excuse to be bored!
