Empties #1

I’m blessed when it comes to being able to review things sent to me, gifted and even buying my own, which means that I seldomly get to finish a product because I’m so excited to dig into the new goodies I get. This is an on going cycle of mine and I end up giving a lot of things away… Well no more! I have this new theory; if you open it YOU FINISH IT. I took this new approach to beauty products very seriously and have finished quite a few products, some completely empty and some with about 1 round of use left.

At the moment to prevent accumulation of empty containers, I decided to share my hit/miss products with you. I feel that “empties” posts are the most informative posts ever so I decided to share my empties for the month of June.

Garnier BB Cream
The love that I have for Garnier’s BB Cream cannot even be put into words. I’m on tube number 5 ever since starting on BB Cream about 2 years ago. It lasts forever! The best part is that there’s different BB Creams for different skin types.

Would I purchase it again? Absolutely it deserves ☆☆☆☆/5

Bourjois Shine Lipstick.
This lipstick is the best one I’ve discovered all year. I want a whole bunch of these. Its my most moisturizering lipstick and even made it ontop my top 5 lipsticks. I used the heck out of this product, look what the poor tube looks like. I always end up chucking it in my campus bag because I cannot imagine a day without it. Its my most worn one yet. I’m reviewing some more Bourjois products at the moment and this brand definitely makes it onto my fave beauty brands list.

Would I purchase it again? YES x1000 It deserves ☆☆☆☆☆/5

Yardley Stayfast Pressed Powder
This powder is definitely one of the best ones I’ve used. I haven’t experienced an ounce of shine since using it. I hit pan so I had to shift over to the Maybelline All In One powder.

Would I purchase it again? YES No doubt. ☆☆☆☆/5

Yardley 3D Lash Fibre Extension
I’ve using this mascara for about 2 months and I have a love/hate relationship with it. This definitely adds definition and length to ones lashes and doesn’t clump at all. For some odd reason it irritates my eyes when I add more than two coats and my eyes tear. Even with the tearing, it doesn’t run. See my love hate relationship with it?

Would I purchase it again? I’m undecided. ☆☆☆/5

L`Occitane Hydrating Mist
I love love love this product’s scent. This is actually a great “summer time” product. I just wish my face could stand this product. This is definitely not for people with sensitive skin. My face went red and itchy. I then used the hydrating mist on my legs. Whoooeee what a burst of summer freshness.

Would I purchase it again? No. ☆☆/5 the two is for the scent and how it feels on my legs. Its a bit of an expensive product just to cool my legs down.

{In Beauty} June Favourites

The last time I did a monthly favourites post on my blog would have to be ±2 years ago. So I thought why not share my June winter lifesavers with you and shine some light on a few products that may or may not end up on the blog. Seeing that this is a fashion, beauty and lifestyle blog, I thought ‘why not divide it into 2 posts’. This one will feature all my favourite beauty products and the other will feature all my favourite fashion items that I’ve been loving. Maybe Ill do a lifstyle post too.

Avon Lipstick – Deep Orchid
This is by far the darkest shade of lipstick that I own. I have to say that I’m really starting to love Avon again. When this lipstick wears off, it looks like a light purple shade and it ends up looking like a balm stain. The staying power of this lippie is incredible. Its very creamy in texture and its quite moisturizing seeing that its a matte lippie. Would I repurchase it again? Absolutely! Ill maybe do an in-depth review with swatches on this sometime next week.

Balm Balm – Little Miracle Rosehip Serum.
This have been on my winter favourites list since I started my blog. This is definitely my holy grail of face products. When all else fails, I run for this baby. This is a MUST in my beauty routine every winter, read my full in-depth review on it over here and also more about some other great products fro Balm Balm. Its great for people with sensitive skin like me. I’m in love with this products scent.

Pantene Pro-V : Colour Brilliance Serum
As you know in winter one’s hair becomes more brittle and dry and I need to use products that protects my hair from the harsh winter conditions. I’ve recently started using this product along with the entire Colour Brilliance range that I was sent and I’m love love loving it. I’m a heat styling person so every bit of protection that I can get for my hair is a MUST.

Front Cover – Colours of the Cat Walk.
I got this amazing beauty book from Desle. She brought it back from her trip to Qatar. I have to say that its probs the best book that I’ve ever received. As a beauty blogger, I can only do the basics of makeup and this book is my saving grace! It gives you the “how to” on makeup looks. This amazing little book deserves a post on its own.

Victoria’s Secret – “Such A Flirt” Hand and Body Cream.
This amazing hand and body cream is also a gift from Desle. I’ve dubbed her the queen of lotions when it comes to my fave lotions ever used. Ill do a review on this too in the next few days so keep an eye out for it! I wish you could smell how amazing this scent is of this hand and body cream.

{Review} Revlon – Matte vs Lacquer Balms

wpid-Revlon-Logo-Wallpaper.jpgLet’s talk Matte vs Lacquer. In February the awesome people over at Revlon sent me a stunning little package and I couldn’t wait to get my claws lips into it. They sent me some fab Lacquer, Matte and Kissable balm stains. If you want to read my thoughts on Revlon’s Balm Stain, just click here.
Now I’m already an avid Revlon fan so I know I can expect nothing but the best. I’ve been trying the much hyped about Matte and Lacquer balms for 3 months so I can give my honest opinion on it and try it out thoroughly. The Matte and Lacquer Balms comes in 20 incredible shades that’s jam packed with triple moisture complex of shea, mango and coconut butter.

The staying power of these balms are AH-MAZING! I had to test them day by day because each shade stayed on my lips throughout the day even with eating and drinking. The colour wore off but the stain remained. I tried the 2 lacquer balms first and I’m in love with both of them!
So I’ve been trying the Vivacious (120) and the Whimsical (115) lanquer balms. Just like the balm stains, the lacquer balms also have the peppermint tingle on the lips. You can go for an intense dark fuchsia shade or a really light pink lip when using Vivacious.  With Whimsical there are tiny glitter particles in them that I adore. If I have to differentiate between the two, I’d definitely say that Vivacious is a day shade and Whimsical is more of a night time shade. One thing that I love even more is that these Lacquer Balms are extremely moisturising on the lips.img1400016451562

The two Matte Balms that I’ve been using is Striking (240) and Unapologetic (210). The matte balms are definitely for those that loves a lippie with more of a satin-matte finish. Striking is more of a orange-red shade with warm undertones that lasts round about 5 and half hours. I feel that one has to wait until the entire balm wears off before reapplying it or else you’ll get tiny bits of skin/product on the lips.
Even though they are matte balms, they are quite moisturising on the lips. This should definitely be a staple in every girls handbag… Lippie lover or not. The longevity of the balms will cause it to last way beyond your average lippie which is a total plus in my books.
My Verdict.
Lacquer vs. Matte? Well judging from the tips of my balms, you can probably tell which I’ve been using more. I’m a total Lacquer fan but there’s days where I crave a Matte finish. At R120 a pop it should definitely be in your makeup bag. You can find the lacquer and matte balms at stores like Foschini and Edgars.

Thank You Revlon for the awesome birthday prezzie. You darlings rock my beauty world … ALL-DAY-EVERY-DAY!

Must Have Monday: SheWolf

10154334_649036328498901_719292490_nLong time no “Must Have Monday“? Today I’m telling you all about the latest brand under my beauty radar. I’m a huge acrylic makeup organizer fan, you would know that if you’re a regular reader. So lately I’m wondering around the web looking for affordable options because unfortunately I couldn’t attend the 27Pinkx launch in Cape Town where darlings were spoilt to amazing organizers (Major FOMO and hate that I had my awards ceremony that day). Then I stumbled upon a fab new site called She Wolf Products.

Now She Wolf Products is one of the brands that sells Luxury Acrylic Makeup Organizers, Hair Extensions, Jewellery Storage Units, Makeup Brushes and their very own Branded Cosmetics to name a few. They pretty much remind me of the 27Pinkx brand but for the budget girls.

I’m quite intrigued by their makeup line, especially the lipstick palettes and the makeup brushes… Okay and everything else. So obviously I had to make my ultimate lust have list to show you some of the amazing things that you can buy from the SheWolf online store.
When I find a new brand that I love, I make it my mission to report back. Every girl needs some luxury in her life, no? I feel that the founder of the SheWolf products brand, Nadine definitely knows what beauty lovers adores and she customizes each and every organizer to the buyers needs. My fave aspect of some of SheWolf’s acrylic units? The knobs! I L-L-Love it!

Enough with my rambling, check out the SheWolf site for the latest beauty products and must haves!

The Lipstick Tag

I bet all of you are already fed up of me mentioning how much I love lipsticks. So I thought why not participate in the awesome Lip Stick tag so that you darlings can see all my fave lippies and what I’ve been loving lately. Next up on my lipstick list? Definitely a huge load of MAC lipsticks.

1. How many lipsticks do you own?
For someone that loves lipsticks, I actually don’t own that much because like all makeup products, lipsticks have an expiry date too so I like to keep them at a minimum and it also gives me a chance to wear all of them. I have round about 30. Not that much hey?

2. What was the first lipstick you owned?
I remember it being a nude Revlon “hand me down” that I got from my mom. That was the only lipstick that I was allowed to wear outside, because apparently lipsticks were for BIG PEOPLE. Boy oh boy how I loved that lipstick.

3. What is your favorite lipstick brand?
If I could afford Dior lipsticks it would definitely be Dior (I cherish the ones I have. Broke student problems) but Revlon wins hands down.

4. What is your most worn lipstick?
It used to be Revlon’s Colorburst Fuchsia in 030 but unfortunately its at its very last and its been discontinued so I’m currently using Bourjois Shine in shade 21.

5. What is your favorite finish?
I’m a huge fan of Matte finishes but I enjoy the occasional gloss finish seeing that I don’t really fancy lipgloss over a lipstick.

6. What was the last lipstick you bought?
It would have to be my Accessorize lipstick in Pink Pleasure Shade 8. I think I fell in love with the packaging more than anything else.

7. How many lip products do you currently have in your bag?
I have 4 products in my makeup bag at the moment. I love mixing them up. Especially now in winter I always make sure that I have an array of products like a lipbalm to prevent chapped lips, a balmstain when I know that Ill be working through lunch and won’t be able to reapply and obviously a lippie or 2.

8. What is your favorite red lip color?
At the moment its a toss up between my Rimmel 170 Alarm and my Revlon Super Lustrous 69 in Go Chilli.

9. How do you store your lipsticks?
I store my lipsticks in a pink vanity box, until I can oneday find the courage to buy one of those overpriced acrylic boxes.

10. Which lipsticks are you currently lusting after?
I’ve been wanting The Rouge Volupté range of YSL lipsticks ever since I joined Pinterest 3-4years ago. It looks amazing and the packaging just draws me in!

{Review} Rimmel : Kate Moss – Lasting Finish Lipstick

When life(Read: My sister) hands me a good lipstick, I blog about it! The lipstick that Ill be raving about today is the Rimmel: Lasting Finish by Kate Moss. Now this is by far the lightest shade of lipstick that I own so it really took me out of my lipstick comfort zone. The ones that I own are either deep reds or hot pinks.

Kate Moss’s lipsticks aren’t exactly new on the market but it is new in my collection so I thought I’d share my thoughts on it. I’d love to get my hands on more of these lipsticks. Its extremely moisturising on the lips and very pigmented. Throughout the day when it fades, it appears like a balm stain which makes the longevity of the lipstick SUPERB!

My description of the scent of the lipstick won’t do it justice. Its somewhat of a coconut, strawberry ice-cream and vanilla scent. This lipstick is very buildable. Its a nice balance between a dirty pink and a coral shade. When worn, the lipstick has a slight gloss finish to it and that’s one of the things that I love about it. The lightweight packaging of the tube with Kate Moss’s signature on the cap adds a nice little personal touch to it.

This really motivated me to try more lighter shades this summer and its definitely a great addition to my makeup bag. There are 7 colours in the Lasting Finish range and I without a doubt want all of them.

One of the main reasons why I adore this product so much is because it doesn’t leave my lips feeling dry, wrinkly or flakey after a few hours which is something very common when using lipsticks.

{Review} Miss Signature : Emotionally Activated Lip Gloss

246785_437190933006338_39698605_nI’m a huge Seventeen Magazine fan (Yes I read Seventeen Magazine and Yes I love it) and I particularly love it when they include fab goodies in their magazine. To be totally honest I get most of my blog ideas and inspiration from magazine’s because I practically live in them, Seventeen in particular. The products in the mag is affordable because its aimed at us budget girls, which brings me to today’s post.

In the November issue you’ll find an eyeliner and Lipgloss(Liquid liner freaks me out so I’m reviewing the lipgloss). Now 1st of all this lipgloss intrigued me. I’m not a lipgloss fan but because I read something along the lines of “Emotionally Activated Lip GlossI WAS SOLD!
I’ve never used Miss Signature products before so I was quite excited to try this gloss out. When in the tube its clear but after a few seconds when applied to the lips, it turns into a light pink. Half an hour in, it turned into a darker reddish-pink. I don’t know what happened or even if its really emotionally activated but it changed colour. Maybe I was excited because I finished at campus early but the fact remains … IT CHANGED!

I must admit that I really like this gloss. Its the perfect constancy between runny and thick. I also love the strawberry scent. The staying power is good and I didn’t have to reapply it that often during the day. This is my new bestie on those days when I have a quick errand to run.

There’s also a fab spread in Seventeen on a selection of Miss Signature cosmetics and I’m quite keen to try it out.  Let me also add that the prices are AH-MAZING! Its in the same price range as Essence, Catrice & Wet n Wild. These are a few of the products that I’m dying to get my hands on in the mag.
OH OH OH! Before I forget, in the mag this month you’ll get a R50 off voucher that you can use on Miss Signature cosmetics (You’re Welcome). Check out their website for a list of their stores & all the fab things in their range.

{Review} Urban Decay : Naked Basics Palette

80_picture-15Along with every other South African beauty lovers,I so badly wanted to try anything from Urban Decay. A few weeks ago the beautiful Tasha from Belleza Kisses (Read her blog, you’ll love it!) sent me some fab goodies.

Now I’m no beauty guru but I at least know how to apply eyeshadow and make my eyes look pretty. I do however have to stick to the safe colours to prevent me from looking like a clown. That’s where my new fave Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette comes in. I love how compact it is. The perfect size to just pop into my handbag with a great size mirror for those quick touch ups on the go.
The staying power of the eyeshadows are AMAZING! They blend perfectly and are very pigmented. I particularly love how the product transfers from the brush to my eyelids but still look exactly the same. With most eye-shadows it appears extremely pigmented in the pan but when on your eyelids they look transparent.

I’ve read some great Urban Decay reviews on Tasha’s blog and I want them all. The lip liners looks fab. Read Tasha’s review over here. Take a look at my absolute lust have list.
Urban Decay products are an absolute must have in your makeup bag and collection. Make a new buddy in the U.S and tell them to get it for you! Next on my list is the Naked 2 palette and/or a stunning lipstick. What’s your thoughts on Urban Decay?

{Review} Revlon : New Complexion Concealer

I’ve been a bit absent over here but Karabossie and I have a huge exam tomorrow with an assignment or two due soon. I thought I’d sneak in a post in my study break time to let you know about my latest new must have item.

Seeing that I use BB Cream instead of foundation, I need a little bit more coverage. Last week Sunday at the Factory Shop expo, I knew that if I had to go for any brand, it would be Revlon. I bought some amazing Revlon products that I will be reviewing in the coming weeks but today I bring you the  Revlon: New Complexion Concealer in 02 Light/Medium.

This is the first time I’ve used this type of concealer so I was looking forward to trying something different. I think I might have gone one shade too light for my complexion but the best part is, it wasn’t a problem! This concealer adapted to my skin tone the minute I applied it. I find that blending this concealer with my finger tips works better than using a brush because the warmth of ones finger tips makes it easier to blend seeing that this concealer is quite creamy and thick. In this palette, you’ll find 2 shades. A lighter and darker one, but very similar in colour.

The coverage of this product is incredible! My BB cream glides over it effortlessly when blended. I’ve read that this concealer has been discontinued(I speak under correction) so I’m really happy that I got to test it out and I will definitely be using it sparingly. I got this two pan colcealer for only R60! This was one my best buys at the Factory Shop Expo along with some other Revlon Palettes. I’ve only ever read and heard good things about Revlon’s concealers so I will be trying out their new range when I finish this one.
