{Review} Avon Ideal Flawless BB Cream

In my “New In” post, I mentioned that I’m currently trying a new BB Cream and that’s something huge for me because I’m a creature of habit. I believe if its not broken then why fix it? In simpler terms; I love my Garnier BB Cream so why am I even experimenting with a new BB Cream? I saw it in the Avon brochure so I purchased it and I might have over reacted a lot a little when I saw it the first time. A few days went by and I finally managed to build up the courage to take it out of the box again and give it a second look. I have to say that I’m now singing a completely different tune.
I’ve been using it everyday since the day that I’ve opened it and I even found a way to incorporate it into the day before yesterday’s DIY post. Avon’s Ideal Flawless BB Cream is quite different compared to my beloved Garnier Miracle Skin Perfecter, Ill do the comparison further down. Firstly Avon’s BB Cream offers medium coverage with SPF 15 and I’m fine with that. I love that it didn’t seem cakey or unnatural on my face and that it stayed put all day. I use my Avon Colortrend Concealer underneath it everyday but I find that I don’t have to dust my Clear Smooth All In One Powder on everyday depending on the weather. I’ve noticed that this BB Cream has a slight shimmer to it. Not overpowering and one can hardly see it, I only noticed it on my finger tips but its something I’ve never experienced in a BB Cream.IMG_1777

Let’s get a bit comparing in here:
•This BB Cream didn’t wipe off my face (sometimes clothes) as easily as my Garnier BB Cream does and I love that.
•Its a much thinner consistency than your average BB Cream so blending with a brush is a dream even though I love my finger tips too.
•I have to however put a moisturiser or my sunscreen with a higher SPF under this BB Cream or else my face feels and looks dry.
•Putting a powder over is optional where as with my Garnier BB Cream, I had to lightly dust my powder over it to set it and prevent shine during the day.
This BB Cream works quite well in conjunction with my makeup routine and exceeded my expectations. Its definitely a notch up from the Avon foundations that I’ve tried. If you’re on a budget and wanting to spend on a good quality everyday BB Cream, then this is definitely it. At R99.95, Ill most likely add it to my shopping list again.
Have you tried this BB Cream yet?

Must Have Monday: SheWolf

10154334_649036328498901_719292490_nLong time no “Must Have Monday“? Today I’m telling you all about the latest brand under my beauty radar. I’m a huge acrylic makeup organizer fan, you would know that if you’re a regular reader. So lately I’m wondering around the web looking for affordable options because unfortunately I couldn’t attend the 27Pinkx launch in Cape Town where darlings were spoilt to amazing organizers (Major FOMO and hate that I had my awards ceremony that day). Then I stumbled upon a fab new site called She Wolf Products.

Now She Wolf Products is one of the brands that sells Luxury Acrylic Makeup Organizers, Hair Extensions, Jewellery Storage Units, Makeup Brushes and their very own Branded Cosmetics to name a few. They pretty much remind me of the 27Pinkx brand but for the budget girls.

I’m quite intrigued by their makeup line, especially the lipstick palettes and the makeup brushes… Okay and everything else. So obviously I had to make my ultimate lust have list to show you some of the amazing things that you can buy from the SheWolf online store.
When I find a new brand that I love, I make it my mission to report back. Every girl needs some luxury in her life, no? I feel that the founder of the SheWolf products brand, Nadine definitely knows what beauty lovers adores and she customizes each and every organizer to the buyers needs. My fave aspect of some of SheWolf’s acrylic units? The knobs! I L-L-Love it!

Enough with my rambling, check out the SheWolf site for the latest beauty products and must haves!

My Beauty Bucket-List

bucket headerIn my little bio on the left –» it states that I’m a list maker because there’s always so many things that I want and wish I had… 100% true if you ask me! Before starting university, I always had $$$ then the student budget came into play and I had to control the spending because I stopped working. Back then there were never things that I really wanted but now that I can’t afford all the goodies… VOILA every little new invention that can/will (I hope) keep my skin looking fab and pretty appears on the beauty market.

Now I’m an avid list maker! This is what brings me to my beauty bucket list. On my beauty bucket list are fairly new goodies to the beauty market but I’m not one of those people that jumps on the gravy train and buys every product that appears on the market just because there’s a hype around it. I actually want to read reviews first. I’ve read some incredible reviews on some of the products on my beauty bucket list so I just know that its a winner. I’m definitely going to try each and every thing on my list, even if its not anytime soon, but I WILL.bucketlist
1)Victoria’s secret travel makeup brushes – Its Victoria’s Secret, its makeup brushes, its pink… No need for an explanation.

2)Lancome Alber Elbaz mascara – If I have to be totally honest, this product’s packaging is what drew me in first. I’m in love with it!

3)Chanel Palette – I need this in my life. I don’t know how Ill even start using it because its so pretty.

4)Prada Candy L’Eau – I used this as a tester in a store that I went to. If love had to be captured in a bottle, this would be it

5)Dior BB Cream – Seeing that foundation and I just don’t seem to get along, I need to try this BB cream.

6)Riri MAC lipstick – I’m a huge fan of Riri’s music and I’ve mentioned my love for bold red lips a gazillion times, its just a MUST that I get this. It hits South Africa in September.

{Review} Yardley : STAYFAST

imagesA while back I got a voucher to purchase the Yardley Stayfast Range and I was pretty excited to try it out because I still haven’t found the “perfect” foundation for my skin type. The 3 products that I purchased was the Foundation, Concealer and Pressed Powder. All three cost about R300 all together. I then headed down to the Yardley counter at Foschini in Canal Walk and got it matched to my complexion. yardley_stayfast_art*Tip* if you do get yours matched, rather get each product matched individually and don’t choose each product according to one shade.

Yardley Stayfast – Skin Perfecting Concealer {Tan 04}
First up is the Concealer. I love this product and its most definitely my fave product out of the bunch. Its perfect for hiding those little imperfections and dark circles around your eyes. It also protects your skin against the UV rays. The roll-up function is one the most amazing features of this concealer as you don’t have to sharpen it like most concealers. I’d definitely purchase this again. 2013-04-04 17.05.14
Yardley Stayfast Foundation (Caramel Fudge 08)
This was one of the main reasons why I went to the Yardley Counter to get my foundation matched. I’ve got a skin tone that requires the perfect shade of foundation because I’m not pale and I’m not tan either. The MUA settled on Caramel Fudge and it was fine on some areas of my face. When blended into the skin, it comes across as orange and on warmer days this foundation would be your worse nightmare. I hated that it rubbed off so easily and during the course of the day your face looks greasy/oily. It also doesn’t offer much coverage and when you apply more foundation to the area that requires a little more coverage, it becomes cakey. The only thing that I loved about this foundation is that it has SPF 20 in it but that’s not enough for me to purchase this product again. 2013-04-04 17.09.31
Yardley Stayfast Pressed Powder in {Caramel Fudge 07}.
I had no problem with this product, its actually one of my makeup bag staples at the moment. Its similar to my Clarins shine stopper powder. I use this over my Garnier BB cream. Its also a great foundation for the rest of your makeup. It helps control oil without drying your face or letting it look ashy.2013-04-04 17.01.19All in all, I’m definitely going to repurchase the Concealer and Pressed Powder. I’ve read mix reviews on the foundation so I guess it varies from skin type and tone. The prices of this range is quite affordable compared to other brands. You can find this range at Edgars, Foschini, Dischem and Clicks stores.

Bloggers And Bags : Charlene – Gee Whiskers #2

Today I’m featuring the beautiful Charlene from . I love reading her blog especially her beauty reviews. Thank You Charlene for taking the time out to do a guest post for me. Here Goes :

A handbag is such a personal thing and it’s always fascinating to see what people carry around with them – even more so when you look at the contents of your own handbag. I recently downscaled my handbag size because with it being Summer I didn’t want to be carting a huge bag around with me in the heat. So that also meant that I had to scale back on a lot of things I carry around. I was quite surprised to see how much I carry with me and never actually use. So this is my scaled down makeup bag and the handbag I carry my goodies around in.
In my handbag
1. The Body Shop Mono Eyeshadow. I chose a dusty, light pink because it doubles as a blush as well.
2. Physicians Formula Gel Eye Liners in Purple and Brown. The main reason why I carry these are to change up the look of the eyeshadow. I am able to create different looks without carrying extra eyeshadows. These are really fantastic eye liners that go on quickly and smoothly.
3. Clinique Power Lash Mascara. This is long lasting and the tube is also smaller than other mascaras which makes it ideal for a makeup bag. When you choose a mascara for your makeup bag, you have to make sure that it’s one that gives great results all the time. When you are out and about you can’t correct clumpy lashes or smudges very easily.

1. Opal Black blush that I got in a Rubybox a while ago. I like having matte looking skin so this comes in handy when I get a bit of a shine.
2. Elizabeth Arden Kabuki brush to apply the blush. It’s nice and compact and applies brush and bronzer so incredibly well.
3. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour cream Sun Defense for Face with SPF 50+. I am all about protecting my skin from premature ageing and the biggest cause of wrinkles in sun damage. So I’ve stocked up on these little tubes especially for my handbag.

1. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Tinted Lip Protectant in Blush. I’ve mentioned many times on my blog how much I love Elizabeth Arden’s 8 hour cream range. The lip protectant stick is so good at moisturising my lips and the tint is beautiful.
2. Kiehl’s Lip Gloss. I won this in a competition and before this I never use to wear lip glosses. In fact, I pretty much hated lip gloss. But this is such a gem. I love the beautiful berry colour and the non-sticky formula.

1. Loccitane Shea Butter Hand Cream. This costs R100 for a little tube…yes that is quite expensive but this is a must for all women.

1. Hairbands
2. Hairpins
3. Nail File

{Review} Garnier BB Cream – Miracle Skin Perfector

Another not so new product on the market that’s taken the beauty, blogging and youtube world by storm is definitely BB Creams!

For those who don’t know what BB creams are, its a Blemish Balm that acts as a foundation, primer, tinted moisturiser , concealer and the best part is… It has SPF 15 in it. At the moment Garnier’s BB creams are the most affordable on the market.

This is one of the products that I got in my Garnier Pure Active range. I’ve been using this religiously since I got it. I’ve never used foundation before mainly because it made my face look dirty. This might be due to the brand I was using or that it didn’t match my complexion. So I thought that I’d give BB cream a go.
I firstly prep my face with a moisturiser then apply my BB Cream with my fingertips because I prefer blending it with my fingers as it works better than a brush. I love this product on days when I’m in a hurry and don’t have time for an entire “makeup’ed” face.

Garnier’s BB cream only comes in 3 shades namely Light, Medium and Dark. The light was too light for my skin tone and the medium was too dark so using my second brain I decided to mix the two and came up with the perfect shade!
I do however have a few negatives about it :

✗ Its a tad bit too oily so I have to use my Clarins Shine Stopper Powder over it to give me more of a natural look.

✗ It doesn’t offer much coverage so I’m still on the hunt for the perfect product to solve that.

✗ If you’ve got super sensitive skin then this will definitely cause an irritation on your face.

• All in all, I will definitely purchase this product again as I’ve come to learn how to use it and work best for me. I’ve read mixed reviews about Garnier’s BB cream but I think that it varies from skin type. I however do feel that I’d be able to use it and I can’t really compare it to any other brand.

January Favourites

I’m loving January thus far. Today is my last day at home for a long time so I’m just trying to enjoy it. I’ve got quite a few fave things for January that’s been making my life “easier” and that I’ve been enjoying.

Its officially 13 days to my birthday… Yaaay me! Enough with the rambling. Here’s my favourite items on my January list :

– Moroccan Oil : I started using Moroccan Oil as soon as I Ombre’d my hair and its the most amazing oil that I’ve ever used! I also love the smell of it. A little goes a long way and is even suitable for all hair types.

– Essence Makeup Brushes : I’ve blogged about my obsession with makeup brushes before and these two are my absolute fave. Whenever I go to Clicks, I have to pick up one of their brushes to add to my collection. But Ill do a full post on it sometime next week.

– Garnier BB Cream : I’m loving Garnier’s BB cream that I got with my Pro Active range here and Ill do a full review on it for Thursday. Definitely a life save for someone like me that doesn’t wear much makeup. Very affordable too, compared to other BB creams.

– Mr Price Turquoise Denim Skirt : My most loved clothing item that I bought in December is definitely this turquoise denim skirt from Mr Price. It looks super cutesy when dressed up. Besides… Its from Mr Price! My “go to” store. I wish I bought it in every colour but unfortunately there’s only this colour left.

– Kimmidoll Notebook : My Kimmidoll notebook is my lifesaver. I paid R179 for it at Exclusive Books and I use it for all my notes, blogposts and things that I have to attend to. It has a cute little lock on it. I wish I had one in each Kimmidoll.
