I’m a total snow boot fanatic and when I saw that Uggs would be available in SA from sometime last year(or the year before) I totes knew that I had to get my hands on a pair. I looked at the prices and had to admit that its kind of steep and that led me into searching for similar ones. Mr Price’s online store is packed with lustworthy snow boots and I wish I could have each and every pair on it. The best part is that its extremely affordable. I came up with a list of all my fave ones, affordable and pricier ones for those that’s willing to splurge a lil…Snow boots may not be rain appropriate but definitely a winter must have if you want to survive this cold winter. Uggs are definitely the in thing if celebs are rocking them and as you know, I love drawing inspiration from celebrities for my Fashion Friday posts so here goes! What I used :
•Castor Sugar
•Cherry Flav Zambuk
•Almond Essence

•Put your castor sugar(half a cup) into a bowl.
•Add a table spoon of almond essence into your mixture.
•Scoop small bits of lipbalm onto a spoon and melt it with a candle.

Tip: mix the lipbalm into your mixture immediately because it hardens really fast and won’t be able to blend in with your product.

This DIY is however adjustable. You can use any lipbalm or oil that you want. I’ve seen many DIYs that uses Jojoba oil, food colouring and flavour but I kept mine plain and simple seeing that the Cherry Zambuk Lip balm that I used had Jojoba oil, flavour and colouring in it. I tried to stay clear of any food colouring because I wanted my scrub to remove stains from my lips and not add any.

Your DIY lipscrub will also be amazing for the upcoming winter months to prevent dry chapped lips. The Zambuk in the ingredients list is for moisture and the sugar for exfoliating your lips and getting rid of all the dry flakey pieces. My cherry lipscrub is more pinker than what it appears on the picture and believe me when I say that it smells amazing! Just like sweeties.

What is this “Softer Than Ever Mascot” showdown you ask? Baby-soft invented something new called Micro Pillow Technology. Baby Soft is known for their already super soft toilet tissue and their new invention is even softer, but now feel that this new micro pillow technology requires a new mascot OR NOT. In my press kit I received quite a few goodies that I’m LOVING! I first popped my flash into my laptop and watched the vids on it. Definitely one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen and now I have a new flashdrive for university… YAY. Let me get to the awesome Softi vs Shlumfi merchandise. The only thing that I really love about autumn is the fashion, copious amount of hot chocolate, discovering new coffee shops and snuggling in bed with my hot water bottle and faux fur leopard print throw. I’ve always noticed that autumn fashion tends to be more pricier than summer clothing, therefore one has to find the most affordable but yet not skimp on quality. Apart from having an insanely long Mr Price autumn wishlist, I obviously have to be REALISTIC… I know I probably say this in every post but I really do LOVE Mr Price and bless the person that came up with Mr Price’s online store. A few of the things that I have on my wishlist :1) This cute collar dress is perfect for autumn paired with leggings. 2) Studded snow boots . Watch out for my Fashion Friday post this Friday . 3) I love cats and how cutesy is this beanie? 4) Scarves are pretty additions to outfits and its perfect to keep your neck warm. Stunning one from Mr Price. 5) Dark denim for winter is key! 6) I’m in-love with these pjs. Snugly and the cute dogs on the chest is a bonus! 7) I already did a post on biker jackets and its definitely a key item for both autumn and winter. 8) A new handbag never needs an explanation, especially not this double buckle messenger

Getting the London Look has never been easier. I’ve been spotting Rimmel’s 60 second polish everywhere and wanted to see if it really dries in 60 seconds because waiting for polish to dry is one of the main reasons why I don’t do my nails with nailpolish anymore. She sent me a stunning shade in “230 Portobello Pink” and I’m smitten!

I didn’t feel like doing the whole nailart thing because I had to hit the books 10mins later so this was the perfect time to see if this polish really did what it says it does AND IT 100%, HONESTLY, ABSOLUTELY, DEFINITELY does it. Its been 3 days and my nails still looks beauty parlor perfect. Besides the quick drying, long lasting and amazing formulation, I quite liked the applicator. Its bigger than your standard polish brush. It took me 2 strokes and 1 coat to achieve this look and a picture doesn’t do this colour justice. Its much pinker than what it appears on the picture.

Rimmel 60 second nail polish comes in 16 stunning shades and I wish I had them all. This is my new fave nail polish. I have no complaints about this polish. Highly recommended darlings! You can also purchase this from Rubybox as well as your usual drugstores like Clicks and Dischem.

So here goes : Lately…

-I’ve been doing more… “Me” and less “What other people expects me to do/be” and its been wonderful!

-I’m really loving… My little kitten “Toffee Apple”. He’s the most annoying bunny looking kitten EVER but I heart him.
-I’m really Looking Forward to… Month End. I need to do some more autumn/winter shopping because the weather in Cape Town is changing. There’s a chill in the air and my Mr Price wishlist just got a whole lot longer.

-At the moment… I really do believe in the quote “No one is going to hand me success. I must go out and get it myself. That’s why I’m here. To dominate. To conquer. Both the world and myself.” – Unknown.

-I can’t stop playing… Angry Birds. It just never gets old. I find myself dreaming about it.
The last thing I bought myself… Was two pairs of jeans for the chilly days ahead. I don’t really like wearing long pants but with new booties, they’re my best friend!

-I thought… That I’m over Pinterest but once I get pinning, there’s no stopping.

-I’m really missing… Glee. This season has been dragging and the long breaks in between are just too much.

-Sometimes… I prefer animals over humans.

I’ve developed a new love for this wardrobe staple and I’m so ready for month end because I’m finally purchasing a stunning one from Mr Price. You’re definitely going to be seeing a lot of this trend in upcoming months and the best part is that it can be worn in so many different ways. With a dress, jeans and even guys can rock it. Yardley Stayfast – Skin Perfecting Concealer {Tan 04}
First up is the Concealer. I love this product and its most definitely my fave product out of the bunch. Its perfect for hiding those little imperfections and dark circles around your eyes. It also protects your skin against the UV rays. The roll-up function is one the most amazing features of this concealer as you don’t have to sharpen it like most concealers. I’d definitely purchase this again.
Yardley Stayfast Foundation (Caramel Fudge 08)
This was one of the main reasons why I went to the Yardley Counter to get my foundation matched. I’ve got a skin tone that requires the perfect shade of foundation because I’m not pale and I’m not tan either. The MUA settled on Caramel Fudge and it was fine on some areas of my face. When blended into the skin, it comes across as orange and on warmer days this foundation would be your worse nightmare. I hated that it rubbed off so easily and during the course of the day your face looks greasy/oily. It also doesn’t offer much coverage and when you apply more foundation to the area that requires a little more coverage, it becomes cakey. The only thing that I loved about this foundation is that it has SPF 20 in it but that’s not enough for me to purchase this product again.
Yardley Stayfast Pressed Powder in {Caramel Fudge 07}.
I had no problem with this product, its actually one of my makeup bag staples at the moment. Its similar to my Clarins shine stopper powder. I use this over my Garnier BB cream. Its also a great foundation for the rest of your makeup. It helps control oil without drying your face or letting it look ashy.All in all, I’m definitely going to repurchase the Concealer and Pressed Powder. I’ve read mix reviews on the foundation so I guess it varies from skin type and tone. The prices of this range is quite affordable compared to other brands. You can find this range at Edgars, Foschini, Dischem and Clicks stores.

I’m an avid Lauren Conrad fan and I love reading her blog. I’ve been following her career since I started watching “The Hills” and always admired her beauty… GIRL CRUSH! I stumbled upon her makeup brush guide and that gave me an idea of the brushes that I still needed to add to my collection.

I also picked up on some handy tricks from LC that I never knew : One distinction to note is the difference between synthetic and natural bristles. •Opt for natural bristle brushes when applying anything powdered. •Liquids will soak into natural bristles and cause them to clog or degrade. So reach for synthetic bristles when applying foundation or any cream formulas.

My makeup brush collection consists out of a set I bought at Legit, A four piece set from Zando, A brush I got in the Rooirose magazine and two Essence brushes. I love Essence brushes BTW and I can’t wait to add the rest of them to my collection.

Tip : If you don’t have special makeup brush shampoo or whatever professional product that one uses to wash makeup brushes, opt for baby shampoo. Its more gentle on bristles and it will also result in clean/soft/bacteria free brushes!

For those who knows me and have been reading City Girl Vibe since like FOREVER, would know that I’m quite the experimenter. I enjoy Coffee Shops, fall in love with tea and have more caffeine running through my veins than blood BUT I do however love my hot chocolate in between.

So seeing that the weather is crazy/rainy here in Cape Town AND that easter is still in full swing… I came up with a little experiment. If you’ve still got Easter Eggs left after this long weekend then this little DIY is for you. I was craving some hot choc but realised that I have run out only after I heated the milk so I thought WHAT THE HECK… You’re not a chocolate fan so you might as well make hot chocolate (weird that I don’t like choc but love hot choc… Whatevs anyway) and this is what I came up.

What I used : •2 small eggs •Milk

Method : •Heat Milk in the microwave or on the stove for 1 minute. •Add your chocolate egg •When you see the milk changing colour, stir well and VIOLA!

Its that easy. This recipe/DIY is however adjustable. You can make it healthier by using fat free milk or add extra choc eggs or add sugar if its not sweet enough for you. I can just imagine what Lindt would taste like in this DIY. I can however assure you that this DIY tastes like the real thing and you can barely taste the difference between the real hot choc and my experiment.
